Philadelphia 76ers Preview

The Philadelphia 76ers have been playing miserably in the 2024-25 NBA season. The sixers broke their seven game losing streak by beating the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then the team was on a 4 game winning streak before losing 2 games back to back against the Denver Nuggets and the Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics rallied from a 26-points deficit to beat the 76ers 118-110. Displaying a 19-29 record the 76ers are one place behind the Chicago Bulls at 11th competing for the play-in spot. They are placed 4th in the Atlantic Division due to a rebuilding Raptors side belonging to the same division.

On offense, the 76ers are ranked 25th in the league and have a total of 109.1 points per game. Their Net rating is another huge disappointment as they have a -3.6 rating. Their defensive acumen on the other hand has been commendable as they are conceding only 112.7 points per game which ranks them 15th in the league. Tyrese Maxey is averaging 27.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, and arguably snubbed from the all star selections. Paul George has been averaging 17.1 points but his fitness is a major issue at this point,with the player managing to play just 30 of the total 48 games.

The 76ers have suffered injuries to Caleb Martin, Paul George, Joel Embiid, KJ Martin, Andre Drummond and Jared McCain for their next fixture all of whom will be huge misses for the team. The starting five in their absence should have Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr. at guard. Ricky Council IV and Justin Edwards at forward and Guerschon Yabusele at Center.

Dallas Mavericks Preview

The hot topic in the NBA fraternity has been the trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. The general manager of the Dallas Mavericks emphasised on the importance of defence after going forward with the trade. The Mavericks and the Lakers finalized a three-way trade that the Utah Jazz helped facilitate. The Mavericks received Anthony Davis, Max Christie and the Lakers 2029 first round draft pick while the Lakers received Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris. The Dallas Mavericks are currently placed 9th in the Western Conference with a 26-24 record and 3rd in the Southwest Division. The short handed Dallas side suffered a 43 points loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. 

The Mavericks have been performing well overall, averaging 115.3 points per game offensively (11th in the league), 44.9 rebounds (11th overall), a mere 25.1 assists per game (21st overall) and allowing opponents to 116.3 points per game(16th overall). With the addition of Anthony Davis, we should see a difference in their stats for the future. Anthony Davis averages 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. Kyrie Irving is averaging 24.3 points, 4.8 assists and 1.2 steals a game.

Dwight Powell, and Dereck Lively II are the two players currently injured from the Dallas roster.  Irving, PJ Washington, Gafford andMax Christie and being monitored on a day to day basis. The starting lineup is expected to feature Kyrie Irving at point guard, Klay Thompson at shooting guard, Anthony Davis as small forward, and P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford at power forward and center, respectively.
