Teams Preview

Portland Trail Blazers Preview

The Portland Trail Blazers lost two games in a row, which affects their strong start to the season. The team lost five out of seven games in November and fell to a 6-7 record. Their recent match ended in heartbreak against the Mavs in overtime. Despite a strong performance from the veterans, the Blazers were unable to hold on to the lead in the closing moments of the game.

Young guard Shaedon Sharp continued to impress for the Portlanders and scored 36 points in a recent game, which was close to his career-high score (37) set in the 2024-25 season regular-season game.  Team’s leading scorer Deni Avdija also chipped in with 29 points and seven assists in the game.

The team needs to work on their offensive game, as inconsistency has been hitting them hard at times. They rank 19th in the league in offensive rating with a 116.3 rating, and defensively, they rank even further down with a similar rating.

The side averages 43.7 rebounds per game (18th in the league) and 25.5 assists per game (22nd in the league). Defensively, the team remained active with 9.5 steals per game, which is eighth best in the league and also has 4.4 blocks per game (20th in the association).

Tiago Splitter’s team struggled to keep their home court and lost two games out of five played so far at the Moda Center. They will welcome the Phoenix Suns for the first time in the 2025-26 season. Interestingly, the host team won both their encounters at the venue in the recent season.

Phoenix Suns Preview

The Suns faced an unexpected loss against the Atlanta Hawks. The visitors outscored the Suns by 20 points in the final 12 minutes to clinch the narrow victory at PHX Arena. The loss against the Hawks ended their five-game winning run as the team continued its intra-conference battle for November.

Dillon Brooks stepped up for the Suns, scoring 34 points against the Hawks, which is his highest score in the Suns jersey. Since moving to the Phoenix area, Brooks has shown constant improvement in his shooting and scored in double digits in every game. Also, his shooting percentage improved playing alongside Devin Booker,

The Suns average 118.8 points per game (13th in the league), which is three points less than their upcoming opponents. Defensively, the Suns maintained a solid stance despite losing some key players in the recent shake-up and have a 113.2 defensive rating, ranking them in 12th position.  The Suns average 43.4 rebounds per game, which had been their issue in recent years, but their assist average also went down a bit to 27.1 assists per game, which is twelfth in the league.

Defensively, the Suns fared better than the Blazers, giving away fewer fouls and also taking care of the ball well with better ball control.  The team also did well on closing the passing lane and reading the passes as they averaged just 10 steals a game in the 2025-26season which puts them at the fourth position in the league.

Historically, both sides fared equally against each other, with the Suns gaining some upper hand in the recent games. Both teams won in front of their home crowd last season and will look to continue the same.
