The Charlotte Hornets have been on a very negative run lately as they have been inconsistent in their displays so far currently on a five-game losing streak. The Hornets lost the last three games against the Atlanta Hawks (107-104), a close loss to the New York Knicks (99-98), and a 98-94 defeat to the Miami Heat. 

This poor run has put them 12th in the rankings of the Eastern Conference while they are 4th in the South East Division with a record of 6 wins and 14 losses. The Hornets had a great offensive display at the start of the season but in their past few games have struggled on the offensive front with their defensive game getting much better.  

They average 107.5 points per game by accumulating 12.3 offensive rebounds per game while struggling on the defensive side due to their poor defensive start earlier this season taking their opposition points conceded to 112.1 points per game. The players that teams need to be wary of are the likes of LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, and Mark Williams who have been more than important and have played a crucial role in their offensive and defensive effort.

LaMelo, for example, has been a revelation since returning from injury; he has scored a career-high 50 points this season and has averaged 30.2 points per game so far. The only substantial injury that they currently carry is Grant Williams who is out with a torn ACL. The Hornets should then collect their defense with a better maximization of offensive capacities toward effectively improving their position within the league.

Philadelphia 76ers Preview

The Philadelphia 76ers played miserably in the first games of the 2024-25 NBA, recording a horrifying 4-14 record, where they are in 5th of the Atlantic Division and 15th in the Eastern Conference. They are not very good on offense as well, for they rank 29th in points per game at 104.5 and in offensive rating at 107.0. Their Net rating is another huge disappointment as they have a -7.4 and rank 29th in that regard. Their last three games are a testament to this statistic with the side only winning one game in their last three fixtures.

One of their main concerns is that their main productivity is coming through youngsters and not the seniors in the squad. Tyrese Maxey is playing at an All-Star level at 24.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, which has star written all over him. Rookie Jared McCain too has put a lot of work into his game at 16.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.

Injuries have significantly reduced their senior players and impacted the performance of the 76ers, as Joel Embiid appeared in only 4 games due to knee problems while new signing Paul George has appeared in only 8 games because of knee hyperextensions and Kyle Lowry will be missing out too with a recent injury.

The starting five will be Maxey and McCain at the guard; George and Caleb Martin at forward; and Drummond at the center. Both Embiid and George are going to be very key to the offense and defense of the team for the rest of the season and will be hoping to remain fit for the rest of the season.
