The New York Knicks are currently on a strong run after showing inconsistency throughout the season. While they have managed to enjoy some strong winning streaks, their latest one ha taken them much closer to the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers, as the Knicks is currently a game behind the Celtics and 5.5 games behind the Cavaliers. Currently, the Knicks hold a 23-10 record, ranking third in the Eastern Conference and second in the Atlantic Division. 

In their last five games, the Knicks have had a wonderful run with 5 wins in a row beating the Washington Wizards twice and the Magic away from home in their most recent fixtures. Statistically, they have been solid offensively, ranking fourth with an average of 118.3 points per game, while defensively, they concede 110.3 points per game, resulting in a respectable points differential of +6.9, just behind the Celtics and Cavaliers.

Jalen Brunson, averaging 24.9 points and 7.9 assists, has been the standout player for the Knicks this season. New addition Karl-Anthony Towns has also made an impact, averaging 26.3 points and 12.6 rebounds, providing strong support for Brunson. Another Villanova alumnus, Mikal Bridges, averages 20.6 points and 5.4 rebounds but has been benched in the fourth quarter of recent games as he seems to have hit a plateau.

In terms of injuries, the Knicks are dealing with four players who are sidelined: Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson, Cameron Payne, and Kevin McCullar Jr. However, Towns and Payne are under day-to-day observation and could potentially return. The starting lineup currently includes Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, and Karl-Anthony Towns. Should Towns miss an upcoming game, Precious Achiuwa is expected to step in for him in the match against the Raptors.

Utah Jazz Preview

The Utah Jazz have had a very rough season so far as they have been very underwhelming so far this season. Losing four of their last five games, courtesy of the Denver Nuggets, the 76ers, the Trail Blazers and the Cavaliers the Jazz’s last win came against the Brooklyn Nets on December 22. The Utah Jazz rank at the bottom of the Northwest Division in 5th place and are second from last in the Western Conference in 14th place, with a record of 7-24. They're rebounding 44.2 a night (14th in league) and getting an average of 24.3 assists a night (23rd in league). At 52.9%, two-point shooting and 34.7%, from three-pointers, the Jazz are one of the worst scorers in the league. On defense they give up a lot as they conceded119.2 per night (27th league). They average 109.4 points a night ranking 23rd league.

Lauri Markkanen 19.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists in 14 games; John Collins 17.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists in 17; and Collin Sexton averages 17.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists per game in 18. Injuries though appear never to get the right time for visit as six players of the team are reportedly put into day-to-day status, among whom include Markkanen, Collins, Jordan Clarkson, and Drew Eubanks. Assuming everyone is fine, the opening five would be: point guard Keyonte George, shooting guard Collin Sexton, small forward Lauri Markkanen if he's good or Brice Sensabaugh, power forward John Collins if he's good or Micah Porter, and center Walker Kessler. All these notwithstanding, the Jazz will rely on big men taking control and seeking better positions in the mayhem that will continue unfolding.
