Statistically, their performance has been inconsistent, as they are averaging 41.2 rebounds per game ranking them 28th in the league even with the likes of Anthony Davis in the team who is considered to be a monster when it comes to securing the boards. On the other hand, their offense manages 26.4 assists per game which is the 12th-best record in the league, and is producing a strong shooting form as their 2-point shooting efficiency is at 55% and their 3-point shots stand at 35.2%. Furthermore, the Lakers are currently averaging a scoring figure of 111.7 points per game which ranks them 17th in the league for points scored, whereas on defense the Lakers are conceding 114.1 per game which ranks them 20th in that regard too. The key players for the team are Anthony Davis and LeBron James, who are still playing like young superstars. Davis puts up 25.8 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks while LeBron averages 23.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game. Austin Reaves needs to step his game up a notch if the Lakers want to make some kind of a run in the postseason.

Brooklyn Nets Preview

The Brooklyn Nets will face the Lakers after their loss against the other Californian side. Currently, the New York team is struggling. With 2 wins and 7 defeats in January, the Brooklyn Nets seems to have wandered this season. After ending November on a high note, winning three consecutive road games against the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and Sacramento Kings, they have started December poorly, with only two wins and five losses and seem to be following the same path in January. The Brooklyn Nets are ranked 12th in the Eastern Conference on a 14-27 record  and 4th in the Atlantic Division with the Toronto Raptors taking the last position.

Key players for the team include Cam Thomas, who averages 24.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in just 19 games played. Dennis Schroder, who was another important contributor with an average of 18.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists, was traded to the Golden State Warriors recently, prompting the team to reevaluate its offensive strategies. The team ranks 28th in terms of offence scoring a mere 106.9 points per game and 19th in terms of defence, allowing opponents to 114 points per game keeping them on a  negative 7.1 differential.

The Nets are also grappling with significant injury issues with only 2 players playing more than 30 games this season from the starting line up.
