Dallas Mavericks Preview

The Mavs lost 11 games in the season so far, putting them in 13th position in the Western Conference. Eight of those losses came in November alone, as Cooper Flag and Co. recorded wins over the Trail Blazers and the Washington Wizards during the period. 

Rookie Cooper Flagg lived up to the hype as he led the team with a 15.5 points per game average. In a recent game against the Wolves, he was once again amongst the top scorers, with 15 points in a loss. The former Duke star got support from P.J. Washington and Brandon Williams in the game, while Jaden Hardy stepped up as a surprise scorer for the side. With no stars on the roster, the Mavs stand 29th in the offensive ratings (104.1) but covered up at the defensive end. The Mavs are fourth in the league on defensive standards with a 110.8 rating. 

The side averages 41.1 rebounds per game (12th in the league) and third in steals with 6.1 blocks per game. On the offensive end, they struggled a lot and stand at 27th position with 23.9 assists per game. The team averaged 8.6 steals per game.  

Jason Kidd tried to maintain balance between offence and defence on the floor but would love to have his full squad for games. The team struggled to keep their home court and lost seven games out of 10 played so far at the American Airlines Arena. They will welcome the New York Knicks for the first time in the 2025-26 season who are looking to better their head-to-head record against the Texas franchise. 

New York Knicks Preview

The Knicks faced a loss in the reverse fixture against the Miami Heat. After a thumping win at home, the side struggled to score in clutch moments against the Florida team. Mikla Bridges, Karl-Antony Towns and Miles McBride scored 20+ points in the game, but Miami’s team effort handed the hosts a 115-113 win at the Kayesa Center. Jalen Buunson missed both games due to injury and is expected to return against the Mavs. 

The Knicks won six out of eight games in November and will look to finish strong in the remaining five games in the month. Jalen Brunson remains key player on the Knicks roster and leads the team in scoring (28 points) and assists (6.5 assists per game). Karl-Anthony Towns is looking to impose himself as a defensive stalwart in the team and leads the side in rebounds (12.5) and blocks. 

The Knicks average 121.4 points per game this season, which is an immense leap from last year's performance (115.3 ppg). With a strong offensive outing, the side takes fourth place in the Eastern Conference and has an 8-5 record so far. Defensively, though, the team rank 17th in the league and has a 113.8 defensive rating.

While their net rating hands them fifth position in the league, they will look to better their defensive gameplay to put up a challenge against the league’s elites. The side ranks I top 10 for rebounds average (sixth) and assists per game (10th), but rank way behind their next opponents in steals and blocks.
