New Orleans Pelicans Preview
New Orleans Pelicans appear to be headed for a bumpy ride as they kicked off the season with a 4-12 record. The New Orleans got off on a bright note for opening the 2024-25 schedule as it pulled off an away-game victory while blanketing the home affair. The Pelicans opened the season with a 12-point home victory over the Chicago Bulls and then followed that up with an out-gunning 105-103 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. Those gains were short lived however as they went to suffer their first loss in a rematch of a game they had won when they trailed 125-103 to the Trail Blazers.
The Pelican's losing streak was kickstarted after this debacle as they went on to lose two straight to the Golden State Warriors. There was some reprieve, though, in a victory over the Indiana Pacers, followed by a mystifying and heartbreaking six-game losing streak to the Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets, and Oklahoma City Thunder. Tonight, they are at the lowest point of the Western Conference, positioned seven games behind the OKC Thunder, who lead the conference.
Their offense has been the worst in the West, looking to establish a winning ratio at home and on the road. The Pelicans need to discover new ways to get them in like they did last year, where they played with more consistency and can draw on performances from players such as Dejounte Murray and Zion Williamson, who should be healthy enough to stay on the court effectively.
Their last three matches are marathons which won't easily leave their minds as they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 104-99 on November 16, 2024, then the Dallas Mavericks 107-99 on November 19, 2024, and finally to the Cleveland Cavaliers 131-122 on November 6, 2024. That is much of an uphill battle they have in store for them if they are to qualify for the playoffs.

Golden State Warriors Preview
After missing out on last year’s playoffs due to a loss to the Sacramento Kings during the play-ins, the Golden State Warriors have started the 2024-25 season with a burning desire to make up for their previous disappointment. The team had an undefeated pre-season, winning all six of their games, and carried that momentum into the regular season.
Their initial game was uncontested as they whitewashed the Portland Trail Blazers 140-104 as Buddy Hield tallied 22 points and Stephen Curry chipped in with 10 assists and 9 rebounds. The good start continued as they thumped a struggling Utah Jazz 127-86 behind Hield's 27-point effort, which enabled them to go 2-0.
Still, despite these early triumphs, the Warriors suffered their first setback in the home opener when they lost 112-104 to the Los Angeles Clippers, a game in which Stephen Curry suffered an injury that sent him out of the game. Despite this in their first game without Curry, they bounced back with a 124-106 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, with Buddy Hield stepping up to fill the gap left by Curry. Since Curry's injury, Hield has taken on a leading role, averaging 25.3 points per game and leading the Warriors to a 5-1 run so far before losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
They gathered enough wins against some of the OKC Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, and the Memphis Grizzlies that proved their endurance and depth. When they began collecting their wits and getting set to make a comeback, another letdown presented itself in the form of the Los Angeles Clippers as they lost another close match. Taking that losing end, the Warriors came back with a glamorous win against the Atlanta Hawks and then vaulted into the top spot in the Western Conference by one game.

NEW ORLEANS PELICANS vs GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Winning PredictionGiven the form and team statistics of the Golden State Warriors, they actually do stand a pretty good chance of winning on Friday. They've been on an extremely monotonous run, averaging 121.3 points, which they allow only 110.8. Also, they're big on rebounds at 48.7 per game. The Pelicans just had a recent 4-12 record and, averaging 112.5 points a game, will face an uphill battle to match up. This 124-106 win of the Warriors over Pelicans further proves their advantages.
