Toronto Raptors vs Cleveland Cavaliers Match Prediction & Analysis

Toronto at home with its back to the wall is a very different proposition from Toronto in Cleveland. The crowd will be the loudest it has been at Scotiabank in years, Jurassic Park will be packed, and the Raptors have enough talent to compete if Ingram finds himself.

The problem is that Cleveland has already shown it can handle adversity; they won Game 2 by holding on when the Raptors pushed back. A Toronto win here is possible, but Mitchell and Harden are simply too good a tandem to bet against over four quarters.

Toronto Raptors Preview

Game 2 hurt in a specific way. Brandon Ingram shot 3-of-15 from the field for just 7 points, a dismal performance that came from settling for contested mid-range jumpers early in the shot clock rather than using Barrett and Barnes to collapse the defense.

Scottie Barnes led Toronto with 26 points and RJ Barrett contributed 22 with nine rebounds and five assists, two players who played hard and well. The problem is the third star was a ghost. Poeltl also saw just nine minutes as the Cavaliers' frontcourt mobility turned him into a liability.

Back home in Toronto, the Raptors need Ingram to wake up. He averaged 21.5 points during the regular season and has the arsenal to score 24-28 if he is decisive early. The home crowd changes the energy expect him to be more aggressive attacking downhill in Game 3.

Barnes needs another 24-plus game and should push toward that if he builds on Game 2's aggression from the jump. Barrett can realistically hit 22-25 points. If all three of those players produce simultaneously which they have not yet managed Toronto can win this game.

Quickley's hamstring remains a concern but Barrett's message before Game 2's fourth quarter stay in it showed this team's character.

The Raptors on average score 114.6 points per game they score 48.2% from the field and are ranked 7th in the league, and 35.4% from the arc and are ranked 21st in the league. The Raptors grab 42.1 rebounds per game and Ranked 24th in season.

Cleveland Cavaliers Preview

Mitchell and Harden are combining for 58 points a game across this series. They were fluid, forceful, and a handful for the Raptors through both games. Game 2 was competitive Cleveland had to hold on down the stretch for a 115-105 win as the Raptors finally showed more fight.

Cleveland's veteran leadership and consistent scoring from their backcourt duo have given them a commanding 2-0 series lead. The Raptors need a drastic adjustment, especially defensively, to contain the Cavaliers' star guards and turn the tide in the upcoming games. Without a significant shift in strategy, Cleveland looks poised to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

In Game 3 in a loud Toronto building, the Cavs will need Mitchell to stay aggressive from the tip rather than coasting into his rhythm. He scored 30 in Game 2 and is in full playoff mode expect another 28-32 performance. Harden's playmaking at 28 points and 10 assists in Game 2 was vintage; the worry is complacency after two road wins, which Atkinson flagged before Game 2 and the Cavs corrected.

Evan Mobley and the frontcourt controlled the interior and limited Ingram's attacking lanes throughout Game 2 that discipline becomes even more important on the road when the crowd fuels the opposition's energy. Max Strus off the bench remains a heat-check threat who can push Cleveland's lead out of reach in a hurry.

The Cavaliers on average score 119.5 points per game they score 48.2% from the field and are ranked 8th in the league, and 36% from the arc and are ranked 13th in the league. The Cavaliers grab 44.4 rebounds per game and Ranked 11th in season.

Winning Prediction

Toronto will fight harder at home and Ingram will be more active. But Cleveland's two-man game is too efficient and Harden knows how to read a hostile road crowd without flinching. The Cavs take Game 3 and move within one win of the second round.
