San Antonio Spurs Preview

On City Edition Night, the San Antonio Spurs for the first time in franchise history, lost a game despite having two players finish with triple-doubles. They went down 120-125 to a determined Golden State Warriors, who proved to be the better team on the night. With this setback, the Spurs fall to 8-3 for the season but still continue to remain on top of the Southwest Division.

Victor Wembanyama had a huge triple-double for San Antonio, ending with 31 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in a losing effort. The Spurs also got excellent guard play from Stephon Castle. The 2024-25 Rookie of the Year showed why he is considered as one of the most promising players in the NBA, finishing with 23 points, 10 boards and 10 dimes. San Antonio won the rebounding battle 49-40 and had 52 points in the paint. However, they did cough up the ball 20 times. The Dubs also managed to win all the crucial moments down the stretch, eventually coming away with a hard fought victory.

The Spurs are the tenth best offense in the Association, averaging 119.4 PPG, converting 49.7% of shots attempted (6th in the NBA). They average 45.7 RPG (again 10th in the league) and 26.2 APG. On the defensive end of the court, San Antonio is among the top ten in blocks with 5.5 a game (9th in the league) and averages 8.9 SPG (11th in the NBA).

In the 2024-25 regular season, the Spurs defeated Golden State twice, winning by an average margin of 6.5 points a contest. They were, however, embarrassed at home losing by 42 points. This season, San Antonio finds itself down 0-1 with Wednesday night’s loss.

Golden State Warriors Preview

The Warriors won for the second time on the road this season on Wednesday night, coming up with an impressive 125-120 win against the San Antonio Spurs. Golden State now improves to 7-6 on the season, 3rd in the Pacific Division.

Golden State is averaging 115.5 PPG this season, shooting 45.7% from the field. The Warriors also average 41.8 RPG and 27.5 APG (10th in the NBA). Defensively, they have been averaging 9.8 SPG (6th in the NBA) and 4.3 blocked shots a contest.

The Dubs lost two of three to the Spurs last season but did have a blow out victory in Frost Bank Center on March 30, 2025 winning 148-106. In the 2025-26 regular season, Golden State has already pulled off a road win leading the series 1-0.
