Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest FC Match Prediction & Analysis

Sunday’s Premier League action kicks off with Crystal Palace hosting Nottingham Forest in a clash between two sides in need of a win for different reasons. Palace are still searching for their first home victory of the season and will see this as a good opportunity to break that run.

Forest, meanwhile, need a strong response after their disappointing defeat to newly promoted Coventry before the international break. With both teams eager to get back on track, an entertaining contest could be in store.

Current Standings: Not much separates the teams in the points table, as Nottingham are 13th with five points, while Palace are 15th with four points.

Head-to-Head Record: In the Premier League, Nottingham hold an unbeaten record against Palace, winning four of the 12 matches played between the teams with eight draws.

Teams Preview

Crystal Palace Preview

Crystal Palace have endured contrasting fortunes at home and away in the Premier League. The Eagles have lost both of their league games at Selhurst Park this season, suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat to Manchester City before a surprising 3-2 loss to newly promoted Ipswich Town. Head coach Pierre Sage will therefore be keen to avoid a third consecutive home defeat, something Palace have not experienced at the start of a Premier League campaign since 1997/98.

There is, however, some encouragement from their cup performances, having won their most recent home games in both the Carabao Cup and UEFA Europa Cup. In the league, Palace have collected four points on the road, with their last outing ending in a goalless draw at Leeds.

Crystal Palace have kept three clean sheets in their last five matches across competitions.

Palace have won just once in their last 12  Premier League games.

The Eagles have managed to score at least a goal in each of their last eight home games in all competitions.

Team News

Crystal Palace have received a timely boost, with Dean Henderson, Anan Khalaili, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jean-Philippe Mateta are set to return to the squad after recovering from injuries sustained before the international break. However, Chadi Riad remains sidelined with a long-term injury, while Axel Disasi is suspended for the clash.

Crystal Palace Probable starting Lineup

Benitez (GK); Richards, Tomiyasu, Ahanor, Khalaili, Wharton, Timber, Mitchell, Kamada, Pino, Mateta.

Nottingham Forest FC Preview

Nottingham Forest have endured an inconsistent start to their Premier League campaign, collecting one win, two draws and two defeats from five games. Interestingly, they have performed better against stronger opposition, drawing with Liverpool and beating Aston Villa, but struggled against lower-ranked sides, losing to Coventry and drawing with Tottenham.

Their home form has also been disappointing, with two defeats in three games, including a 1-0 loss to Coventry before the international break.

Away from home, however, Forest have collected all four of their league points so far, including an impressive 2-2 draw at Anfield. They will hope to maintain that form against a Crystal Palace side struggling at Selhurst Park. Forest's Carabao Cup campaign, meanwhile, ended earlier than expected with a defeat to Leeds United.

Forest are joined second for the fewest number of goals scored (4) in the league and joint third for the fewest goals conceded (5).

Forest have shot the third highest number of shots in the league so far (82).

Nottingham Forest have recorded just one win in their last 10 games across competitions.

Team News

Nottingham Forest have no fresh injury concerns heading into the clash, with long-term absentee Nicolò Savona remaining their only confirmed absence.

Nottingham Forest Probable starting Lineup

Sels (GK); Aina, Diomande, Murillo, Munoz, Schlager, McAtee, Williams, Gibbs-White, Jesus, Delap

CRYSTAL PALACE vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST FC

Winning Prediction

Crystal Palace desperately need a home turnaround, but Nottingham Forest have been a difficult opponent, with the Eagles yet to beat them in the Premier League. Four of their last five league meetings have ended in draws, although Palace are winless in their last 11 encounters with Forest across all competitions. Their home form offers little encouragement either, with just two wins in their last 16 league games at Selhurst Park.

Forest will fancy their chances of taking all three points, but given the closely contested nature of this fixture, a draw looks the likeliest outcome.

As for the odds, it's mighty close, as one of the bookmakers are backing Palace’s win at odds of 2.55 compared to Forest’s 2.70 and that of a draw at 3.35.
