The Shers kept their title hopes alive with a dramatic 3-2 win over Odisha FC, inspired by a standout MVP performance from Bede Osuji. 

As the game looked all set for a 1-1 draw with a couple of minutes of play left, Osuji arrived at the right moment to tap in Nsungusi’s assist before striking again just four minutes later, latching onto a perfectly weighted pass to Dani Ramirez to put Punjab firmly in control, even as Odisha managed a late response.

The result earned Punjab their first win in three away games and took their away tally to 11 points this season — the third-best in the league — while cutting the gap to the top to just one point. 

With an unbeaten home record and coming off three straight wins on home soil, the Shers will head into the final day full of belief that the title is still within reach.

Key Players 

After his match-winning display last time out, Bede Osuji is naturally one of the players to watch. But in high-pressure encounters, the biggest moments often demand the biggest performers. For Punjab, Effiong Nsungusi with nine goal contributions (7G+2A) and Dani Rodriguez with six (4G+2A) will be expected to shoulder much of the attacking responsibility on Thursday.

Like Punjab, Mumbai also boosted their title hopes with an emphatic win over Mohammedan in their previous league outing and now find themselves in a similar position heading into the final stretch. 

The Islanders effectively wrapped up the contest within the opening 25 minutes through goals from Zonthanpuia and Sahil Panwar, along with an own goal, before Brandon Fernandes capped off a dominant display with a late fourth. 

The victory ended their four-match winless run (D2 L2) and provided a timely confidence boost ahead of a must-win encounter. However, one concern remains — Mumbai have managed just one victory against teams currently in the top seven this season.

Key Players 

In only his third start of the season, Zothanpuia delivered his finest performance in Mumbai colours, scoring his first ISL goal while also registering an assist, making him one to watch. 

However, the Islanders will still look towards their proven match-winners — Lallianzuala Chhangte with four goals, Brandon Fernandes with four goal contributions (3G+1A), and rising star PN Noufal, who has impressed with five goal contributions (3G+2A).
