Magnolia Hotshots Preview

Magnolia lost Game 2 by 91–73 on October 28, falling behind 2–0 in the best-of-five series. KJ Buffen led the Hotshots with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Zavier Lucero added 16 points and nine rebounds. 

Jerom Lastimosa contributed 13 points off the bench, but Magnolia struggled to find consistent scoring against TNT’s defense. The Hotshots shot only 33.8% from the field and 19.2% from three-point range, while committing 15 turnovers.

Magnolia must approach Game 3 with greater urgency, particularly on the offensive end. KJ Buffen needs to remain aggressive inside while using his ability to score from the perimeter to stretch TNT’s defense. Zavier Lucero and Ian Sangalang must provide stronger support in the paint, while Mark Barroca and Jerom Lastimosa should improve ball movement and create better scoring opportunities for their teammates. 

Defensively, Magnolia needs to send early help against Hollis-Jefferson without leaving TNT’s shooters open. Limiting turnovers, avoiding unnecessary fouls and controlling the defensive rebounds will be essential if the Hotshots want to extend the series.

TNT Tropang Giga Preview

TNT continued its dominant quarterfinal run with a 91–73 victory in Game 2. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson delivered a spectacular performance, finishing with 39 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser added 11 points, while Roger Pogoy scored 10. 

TNT built a nine-point lead in the first quarter and maintained control, pulling away further in the third before closing the game strongly. The defending champions now need just one more victory to advance to the semifinals.

TNT should continue using Hollis-Jefferson as the centrepiece of its offense, allowing him to attack the basket, create mismatches and draw defenders before finding open teammates. The supporting players, especially Pogoy, Oftana and Ganuelas-Rosser, must take advantage of the space created by his drives and contribute consistently from the perimeter. 

Defensively, TNT should maintain its physical pressure, close down Magnolia’s passing lanes and force the Hotshots into difficult shots. If TNT can continue controlling the pace, protecting the ball and limiting Magnolia’s offensive rhythm, it will have a strong opportunity to complete the sweep.
