Indiana Pacers Preview

After a deep run in the playoffs last term where they reached the Eastern Conference Finals before getting swept by the eventual champions the Boston Celtics the Indiana Pacers hoped to have a better season this year and started off well with a win against the Detroit Pistons in their opening game as they defeated the Michigan side by a score of 115-109. 

While their first game victory did instill a sense of confidence within the team but what followed next was beyond any Pacer fans imagination as they lost 3-games in a row against the New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and the Orlando Magic which left them hovering right above the fifteenth spot with only one victory in four games.

Despite the nightmare start the Pacers are currently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference and it is their game against the reigning champions that kicked off this revival as their overtime win against the Boston Celtics in their fifth fixture enabled them to move out of the bottom half and allowed them to believe that they can be the team that they believed they were at the start of the season.

Although they did lose the very next game to the New Orleans Pelicans the Pacers did manage to turn things around and go on a two-game winning streak against the likes of the Dallas Mavericks and the Orlando Magic but these wins again translated into another defeat at the hands of the Charlotte Hornets which has left the Pacers with a 4-5 record in the East. This inconsistent form has been a highlight of the Pacers’ season so far and will need to do better if they are to turn things around and seriously challenge for the title this year.

New York Knicks Preview

Similar to the Indiana Pacers the New York Knicks are a side that will be hoping to compete for the NBA title this season and having been knocked out of the playoffs by the Indianapolis side during the semi-finals stage last term they will be looking to exact revenge against them this season despite having already won their first match up against the Pacers earlier this season. 

Unlike the Indiana side the Knicks started their season off with a defeat to the Boston Celtics and while they did win against the Pacers at Madison Square Gardens the New York side then suffered another defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers in their third game which left them with a record of 1-2 in their opening three fixtures.

Although this loss to the table toppers left them with a negative record the side from the Big Apple soon found themselves rectifying that statistic as they beat the Miami Heat in South Florida before defeating the Detroit Pistons by a score of 128-98 to take their record to 3-2 in five games. 

This run eventually ended against the Houston Rockets in their very next game and in a classic Knicks performance lost to the Atlanta Hawks in their seventh game of the season meaning they again returned to a negative record with 3 wins and 4 losses.

This track record has now become a staple of the Knicks’ 2024-25 season as a day later from their defeat in Georgia the Knicks then welcomed a struggling Milwaukee Bucks side whom they dispatched with ease by a score of 116-94 which has now taken their record to 4 wins and 4 losses. 

Currently sitting third in the Eastern Conference standings the Knicks will be hoping to muster up a winning streak in the coming weeks as they are currently 5 games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers and will be hoping to keep up the pace with them as the season mover further along.
